Weekend Sweets: Poor and Lazy Man's Toffee

These are really bad for you, but oh so easy and delicious! You know it's going to be good when there are  only four ingredients and three of them are butter, sugar and chocolate! They really do taste like little toffee squares! This week I made these saltine treats from Gentri Lee, super cute girl and blog.
Ingredients:
1-2 sleeves of saltine crackers (or zesta, or something similar)
1 C butter (2 sticks)
1 C sugar
1 bag chocolate chips

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350. Melt your butter and your sugar in a sauce pan, stirring every so often.

Step 2: While your butter and sugar are melting, take a baking sheet with edges and grease it with pam. Take your saltines and lay them out on the baking sheet salty side up. I used 48 crackers total, but your number will vary depending on the size of your pan.

Step 3: Once the butter and sugar are all melted, pour the mixture over the crackers and spread it around so they're all covered equally. Bake for 10 min at 350.

Step 4: Right after you pull the crackers out of the oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over them. They will start to melt immediately and you can spread them out in an even layer on top.

Step 5: Put them in the fridge or freezer until the chocolate sets. Separate them into their individual cracker squares. Enjoy this simple and tasty treat! Also, I store mine in an airtight container in the fridge with the layers separated by wax paper.
