Fat Quarter Friday: Fabric Bunting

This week I made a fabric bunting. Ada's 1st birthday is coming up in a few days and I'd seen a ton of these all over Blogland, but never had occasion to make one until now. I've seen about a million of these, but I used the dimensions for mine off of this tutorial. I think it's a cute little decoration and was pretty much free since I already had all the fabric and just had to pick up some double fold bias tape which was less than $2.

Materials: 
Fat quarters or scraps
Double fold bias tape

Step 1: Make a little template out of paper. I wanted my pendants to be roughly 6" at the base and 8" long, so I made my template 6.5" at the base and 8.5" through the middle.

 Step 2: Now you're going to cut out your triangles. I folded my fat quarter in half so that I could cut out the pairs at the same time. 

 I used my rotary cutter to quickly cut out all of my pairs of triangles. I wanted 10 total pendants, so I cut out 20 total triangles.

 Step 3: Put the triangle pairs right sides together.

 Sew 1/4" from the seam on both long sides leaving the base open. Trim off the tip.

 To make turning even easier, you can trim more around the point if you wish.

 Step 4: Turn all of the pendants right side out (make sure to poke out the point) and press. Then trim off the little ends that poke out of the open side.

 Step 5: Now take your double fold bias tape and sew along the side about 1/8" away from the edge for about 18". Then place your first pendant inside the double fold and continue sewing. Continue in the same manner until all of the pendants are sew in. Then keep sewing until you've gone another 18". Trim off any excess.

 You're all finished! Hang it up and admire!
